This homeowner fantasized of owning and living in a lighthouse since he was a little boy. Norbut Renovations brought his dream to life. Having already owned a postage stamp lot in Hamlin, NY, all of the makings of his dream were already there; he just needed a bit of help in making it a reality.

We ripped off the roof and transformed the cottage into a home. The first floor includes a dining room and family room that includes doors out to a deck. The second floor is comprised of the master bedroom and includes a balcony to overlook the family room. From there, a ladder can be pulled down for entry to the third floor where the lighthouse resides. And as if this weren’t unique enough, another ladder provides entry to the fourth floor, which is 60 feet above ground and overlooks the entire neighborhood and water.

This is a truly gorgeous home. At Norbut, every project is special, but we live for making dreams come true.

It had long been my wish to renovate a long time family summer cottage. Sometimes my ideas stretched to plans (some might say whimsies) of a light keepers cottage, complete with a lighthouse, of course.

Finally putting the renovation plan into motion last year, I allowed the “whimsy” some consideration. Would be a challenging project transforming what I already had into the vision I in my head. I chose Norbut Construction because you worked with me to put together a plan that had my vision as the focus.

Throughout the project all of your staff went the extra mile(s) to make my whimsy a reality. And what a reality it is. I am completely in love with the beautiful new bathroom, new porch, new entry, new deck, new dining room, new bedroom, and of course the lighthouse, so much that I am only rarely to be found anywhere else…and it’s kind of fun having family, friends, and strangers wanting to get a tour.
