Some may say they don’t like change. But those in the design world are accustomed to it. Trends come and go and the latest hip thing is always evolving; from over exaggerated drapes to minimalist mindsets. And I think it’s safe to say that our long beloved neutral color of over 20 years has recently changed also. Yes I said it, gray is the new beige; and in my opinion, rightfully so.

For a long time, people shunned gray thinking it was cold and depressing. But it has become edgier, moodier and more chic. Gray makes a statement whether it is light and airy or bold and mysterious. And from a designers stand point, it can be incorporated into any design style from traditional with dark hard wood furniture to ultra-modern with stark whites and clean lines.  Or maybe you’re going shabby chic with distressed whites and pastel decor.

No matter what your room setting may be, gray can lend a hand with its plethora of hue’s and undertones.

If you are looking to update or renovate your home, give gray a thought because it is going to be around for a long time. The great thing about this new neutral is that no gray room will look the same because of the endless possibilities it holds. Don’t be afraid to say out with the old and in with the new! We say cheers to you, Gray!
